David turned on the stereo in the living room, ignoring the irritated glance from his lover. He dropped down onto the couch and held his arms out for Spencer, gathering him up into his arms and running his fingertips along Spencer's back to distract him from the book Dave took away.
"Hey, baby." He murmured, pressing a kiss onto a jaw just barely lined with stubble.
Spencer grumbled and shifted, long legs stretching out over the rest of the sofa. "'m not a baby." He turned his face to breathe in his lover's scent even as he kept an eye on his book, wondering if it was worth it to get it back.
David chuckled and reached up to scratch Spencer's scalp, tugging lightly at his hair. "You're my baby. You've been cranky all day. You gonna tell me what's wrong?"
It was quiet for long moments. Then Spencer sighed and allowed his body to relax until he lay limp against his lover, closing his eyes to concentrate on the fingers trailing over his spine. "I'm just having a bad day," he mumbled.
"I'm sorry," Dave rumbled. "Anything I can do to make it better?"
Spencer shook his head and tried to curl in closer, one hand coming up to rest over Dave's heart, feeling for the reassuring thump beneath his fingertips. "Just...keep doing that for a while."
David smiled and took a moment to actually wrap his arms around Spencer in a hug. "As long as you want." He promised, petting him again and listening to the quiet music coming from the speakers.
