Summary: Severus has a problem with the way Jimmy is teaching the students.

"The children need not be taught rubbish like that!"
Severus slammed his fist on the table and Jimmy MacElroy, the newly appointed Muggle Studies teacher, jumped in his seat, his brow furrowing.
"'If you can dream it, you can do it'?! How on earth do to expect to prepare children for how miserable their lives will no doubt become if you feed them nonsense like that?"
"But..." Jimmy stood, trying to at least level the playing field, but finding the other professor to be much taller than him and far more intimidating. His eyes darted away nervously. "But it's true. It's how I live my life. It's how I won two gold medals!" He met the other man's eyes again, trying to look sure of himself. He smiled and Severus noticed his teeth were amazingly bigger than even Granger's had been before she let Pomfrey over-shrink them.
"Pffft!" Severus rolled his eyes and looked incredulously down his nose at Jimmy.
"Professor, look at the world you live in! It's beautiful! You can fly and make dreams come true and brew good luck... I mean... how can you be so cynical? I wish I could do half of what you could."
Severus sneered. "Why don't you try dreaming for it?" His voice dripped mockery. To his surprise (or maybe not, he was growing used to Jimmy's unflappable optimism), Jimmy didn't seem insulted.
"I have. I dream of being able to be magnificent and magical. I dream of it every night. And maybe one day it will happen."
What the bloody hell was wrong with this Muggle?! Severus was suddenly overcome with the desire to smack Jimmy across the face just to smack some sense into him. Instead, to his own surprise, he leaned forward, gripped Jimmy's shoulders and kissed the other man fiercely, feeling a desperate need inside of him that even he barely acknowledged to cling to such purity and naked joy and never let it go. He had never had any of that in his own life.
But it didn't take long for him to come to his senses. He pulled away, frowning at the perfect face in front of him. Jimmy's lips were glistening and swollen and Severus had the fleeting imbecilic desire to tell him that he was magnificent and magical every time he stepped on the ice. Instead, he said the first thing that popped reflexively into his mind. "You're an idiot."
"Wha–" Jimmy started breathlessly, but Severus turned and left the staff room in a whir of black robes, leaving Jimmy standing behind staring blankly at his retreating form.

I'm a Snape/Lupin shipper, so I'm used to trying to get him with supposed opposites (though, yes, Jimmy is a polar opposite, I admit), and a rabid fan of Snape rarepairs, so there might be more (hopefully less cracky) Snape/MacElroy coming. Who knows. :)
