SPOILERS FOR DEATHLY HALLOWS THROUGH CHAPTER FIVE!!
Title: Unfamiliar
Pairing: Fred/George
Rating: PG-13, I suppose, just for implied incest
Warnings: SPOILERS FOR DEATHLY HALLOWS THROUGH CHAPTER FIVE!! Incest, h/c.
Words: under 500
Notes: Well, I've come full circle at the last book. My very first fanfic ever was Fred/George, inspired by an RP with
hiddenfantasy, and I haven't written them since. So this is for Artsy, who's still the George to my Fred.
It was all familiar - the way his sheets pulled away, the dip in the edge of the bed, the way warm arms wrapped around him. When they closed around his chest, however, they were tight and desperate, and that was where the familiarity ended. There was no mirth in the embrace, no fumbling of buttons, no teasing tongue, just the pressure of the way Fred clung to him.
"Do you realise how much we look like mum when you frown?" George whispered.
Fred expelled a breath, his face pressed against George's shoulder, and for a moment George was terrified it might have been a sob. No, it had to have been a laugh, George reasoned. He hadn't seen his twin cry in probably ten years. Still, Fred's grip was tight. George sighed, threaded his fingers through Fred's hair, and attempted to lighten the mood again.
"You know, I reckon I'm in rather prestigious company."
Fred didn't move. He didn't even speak until George opened his mouth again. "Yeah? How's that?" His voice cracked, and George's stomach flipped.
"How many people do you think can say they've been truly attacked by Snape? Me, Dumbled--"
"Probably more than we could count."
"...You're ruining it for me, Freddy," George quipped flatly.
There was a quick jab to his ribs at the nickname and George laughed, but when Fred finally pulled away and rolled on top of him, he wasn't smiling.
"Fred--"
"Shut up, you big git. I almost lost you today." Fred's eyes were wet, but he wasn't crying.
Though Fred had been the unusually quiet one since seeing what had happened to George, it wasn't until now that George didn't have anything to say. Anything that would have been comforting would have sounded so silly on his tongue. Fortunately, Fred seemed to understand this as well, and rather than talk, he leaned down and planted a kiss on Georges forehead.
The kisses continued, lips pressing lightly into the skin, over George's temple, across the apple of his cheek. George was unconfortable - he wasn't sure he was ready to be this serious about what had happened - but he closed his eyes and let Fred continue. When the light kisses reached George's hairline, he knew what Fred was going to do before he did it. It was the moment of hesitation that clued him in, and he almost reached up to stop Fred, but it was too late.
When Fred lips pressed carefully against the edge of George's wound, George shuddered. Before he could stop himself, he was clinging to Fred as tightly as his brother had been clinging to him just moments before.

Date: 2007-07-27 08:12 pm (UTC)I completely imagined something like that when I read that part about George.
And it seemed so Fred-like how you wrote it too.
I also loved the change around in the last part where George was clinging to Fred just like Fred had been clinging to him; it gave it some sort of closure at the end and I loved it :)
