I recently recaped an episode of CM for myself, and I actually really enjoyed doing it, so I'm thinking about going through all the eps and doing this. :3 If nothing more, it'll be a handy reference for me if I post them here, and maybe other people would like them too. I'll probably do them in order from now on, unless I have a reason to watch things out of order again.

Some commentary throughout. Also, obviously, there are spoilers for the entire episode.

Criminal Minds: 2x22: Legacy (AKA creepiest episode EVAH, with lots of YUMMEH Hotchy-ness)

-- Opening sequence: bloodied old man being wheeled on a gurney, begging, while the man wheeling him whistles. Unsub places glasses on the old guy to make sure he can see what's about to be done to him. Zoom in on blood spatter on light fixture, then CUT TO:

-- Gideon watching Charlie Chaplin in his office on reel to reel. He's joined by Hotch, then Morgan in the doorway. Morgan calls Chaplin the "original player", and then leaves the two "old timers" to themselves. CUT TO:

-- JJ in her office. Detective Cal McGee (played by Kristoffer Ryan Winters) of Kansas City PD enters. He called her the week prior and she asked him to send files, but he informs her doesn't have any. "It's more like a theory". Oh yeah, good sell, dude. He produces stacks of teeny tiny notebooks; he tells JJ he catalogues everyone/everything he comes across in his assigned section of town--skid row: homeless, dopers, prostitutes--right down to distinguishing marks. He's noticing fewer and fewer every day and he even received an award for it. Problem is, he's not the one responsible for the drop in vagrants. JJ is skeptical until he tells her there a 63 potential victims. Add to that that he's received a note telling him he should be ashamed for taking credit for the work other people have done. CUT TO:

-- blood washing down a drain, the old man's glasses floating in the stream of blood and water. CUT TO:

-- Opening credits!

-- Conference room: no official investigation. Reid confirms that the homeless are not as transient as people suspect. Hotch starts noticing OCD tendencies in Detective McGee. Hotch and Gideon argue that the case is out of their jurisdiction. JJ counters to Hotch that there might be 63 victims. Hotch agrees to go with JJ to Kansas City to talk to local PD. Hotch causes McGee to have a near conniption when he leaves with two of dude's notebooks. McGee: waitwaitwaitmypreccccciooouuuus! Hotch: *keeps walking* Hee! CUT TO:

-- On Jet: Quote (spoken by Hotch): "Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity, none of them exceeds the criticisms made of the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed" - Herman Melville. Hotch lets JJ in on suspecting Det. McGee is OCD. CUT TO:

-- Morgan, Reid, & Prentiss have note cards up on board. They think this guy's a "house-cleaner", a mission-based killer who believes he's helping society by cleaning up the streets. CUT TO:

-- Prostitute on streets picked up by a guy in a van. CUT TO:

-- Garcia in her office with Morgan. She can't find anything on any of the victims. No missing persons reports, etc. CUT TO:

-- Prostitute wakes up in warehouse, shoeless and drugged. She says "freak" a lot. She heads room to room through red doors. She forces a chain-locked door open, after smashing her face on it, and lands in broken glass. CUT TO:

-- JJ and Hotch at local PD. They confirm McGee is probably OCD by seeing his desk. Commander (Captain Al Wright, played by Steven Williams) says he thinks they're here on false pretenses. CUT TO:

-- Prostitute with glass stuck in face, clears room with jean jacket. CUT TO:

-- Hotch and commander argue, Hotch questions commanders lack of interest in becoming involved: "What if they were cheerleaders? Or teachers? Or mothers?" Go Hotch! *griiiin* Meanwhile JJ talks to Det. Discovers his dad was a cop. ALSO discovers the note was sent across state lines (KS City, MO). The BAU can haz a case! CUT TO:

-- Now bloodied prostitute is locked in room and forced to watch video of the old man begging and being cut apart with a circular saw. Classic cut away just before gore, used in quasi-sci-fi television and horror movies alike since the days of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Bwahaha. CUT TO:

-- Prostitute begs; she has a daughter. Unsub confirms he's a house-cleaner: "What did you do? You were you." CUT TO:

-- The team gets to Kansas. Hotch isn't sure whether Capt. Wright is OK with their involvement, or if he's convinced they're wrong and wants to see them embarrass themselves. Prentiss & Reid nod at the same time. I'm not sure why this amuses me, but it does. *snerk* CUT TO:

-- Prostitute begs more; says she's clean, no STDs. Unsub says he's not without compassion. She's at the center of a 130k sq ft facility and has until sunrise to find her way out. Go, ho, go! Run for your life! CUT TO:

-- Team gives profile, interspersed with shots of prostitute maneuvering her way through facility. CUT TO:

-- Team on streets montage. Morgan is a "good guy" according to Prentiss. Awww. Reid gets "propositioned by every prostitute" he and Hotch talked to. Eeeheehee! Team realizes unsub must be fitting in, like he belongs, "like Social Services" (Morgan). CUT TO:

-- Guy in van, no Social Services ID. Morgan gives us his Regular Spectacularly Stupid Move of the show and jumps in the window of a moving van! It crashes. Go Morgan! CUT TO:

-- Prostitute finds the "kill room", then has a doberman set on her. She has to lock herself in a room with hanging body parts. Ick. Falls down a flight of stairs, then finds her shoes. Thinks she's free, then door shuts. She is having a Really Bad Day. CUT TO:

-- Interrogation room. Unsub's helper has no paper trail. He's the unsub's only friend, but is scared of him. Meanwhile unsub is donning doctors scrubs. In interrogation room, suspect tries to be cocky to really amusing effect as Hotch and Det. McGee just stare at him, then tell him to sit. Hotch: "This morning I decided to save your life." Guy says his family always worked for unsub's, confirms unsub's stressor, tells them he got mean, tells them it's Charles Holcomb who owns the old meatpacking plant. And the team is off! CUT TO:

-- Unsub wheeling prostitute on gurney, whistling again. She calls him a coward for hiding his face, says she won't beg, etc. CUT TO:

-- The team busts in on prostite and unsub (and just in time too! Wowee!), and shoots Holcomb when he tries a last ditch attempt to slash prostitute's throat. She asks to see his face. Montage of team leaving. CUT TO:

-- Team in Gideon's office watching Chaplin. Quote (spoken by Hotch): "Nothing is permanent in this wicked world, not even our troubles" - C. Chaplin

Mmm, look at Hotch and Morgan in your mood picture. :D

I love the recap. I think you should do them all. But then, I benefit from it. *G* Maybe I should post my Lo-Fi recap, hmm?

LOL Oh, but does your Lo-fi recap say things like "Run, ho, run!" ? >.> Because if it doesn't it totally should. XD

That episode is so creepy. The whistling...OMG...how creepy! LOL

What a wonderfully wicked recap. Hilarious. Uhm...it was supposed to be funny right? *g* The recap...not the subject matter...the subject matter is icky...

Poor girl...she really was 'having a bad day'
