Writer's Block: If Animals Could Talk

My cat has three legs and we adopted him that way. The people who brought him to the shelter swore he was born that way, but the vet, after feeling around, said that wasn't likely. He sat in the shelter for months because no one wanted a crippled, seven year old, obese, black cat, even though everyone who spent a little time with him admitted he was the sweetest cat in the world. I finally adopted him because it was no use denying I had fallen in love with him, and I couldn't bear to see him put down.
Anyway, that was a really long explanation just to say that I'd ask him what really happened to his leg.

Date: 2009-03-01 05:36 pm (UTC)My youngest cat (I have two) came into my life when she ran into the downtown library one day. Since I was the person on staff with the fewest cats in my house, I was elected to take her home. What I'd really like to ask her is how she got into the library in the first place, because that was pretty hilarious, but also sort of unlikely.

Date: 2009-03-01 05:48 pm (UTC)LOL Someone had to have let him in the front door! I'd imagine, anyway, though that's the only entrance to that place I know. Did you guys find him first or a patron? :D

Date: 2009-03-01 05:55 pm (UTC)You're right, the front door is the only entrance. It's possible she ran in when someone hit the handicapped button on the door, because they stay open for awhile when you do that. But some people think she was deliberately dropped in there, which is very plausible. People abandon cats at libraries because the cliche about librarians and cats is SO. COMPLETELY. true. It's embarrassing, honestly.
Anyway, I was sitting at the reference desk and I looked up and saw something small and furry run in front of the circulation desk. At first I thought maybe I was hallucinating, but then the entire circulation staff went running after it. It was kind of awesome.

Date: 2009-03-01 09:17 pm (UTC)*G* I wasn't sure if there was another employee entrance, but I sort of doubted it, considering how that building is built. I hadn't considered the handicapped door.

Hee! Really?
How many cats do you have? :)Edit: you said you had two. *headdesk* I was at work when I first posted this entry and clearly things went in one ear (eye) and out the other. (Actually, using eyes makes that analogy is kinda gross).I was sort of imagining it crawing through the stacks and jumping on people's heads, but I'd imagine watching a bunch of librarians chase a cat IN the library would be pretty sweet. ;)

Al (or "Big Al" as he was called at YWAM) spent the majority of his time at the Pet Supplies Plus, which was how we kept him from the Euth room so long, but when he was on the adoption floor at the shelter, everyone adored him. :)
