HALP!

Anyone know how to clear my internet usage from my work computer's history so even the IT guys won't find it? Idiot at work downloaded a virus onto the other computer (apparently--it keeps dying, won't stay on longer than a minute), and they're going to be all up in my business. This computer isn't even supposed to have access, but I've been getting on via a non-blocked browser (Mozilla) from my USB. If possible, I need to make it so they can't tell that ASAP.

OK, sorry, not helpful *coughs*
I don't know how effective it is, but I used Google and read some user comments, and the program CCleaner (http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/) might help you - at least a bit. Please don't ask about how it works, I also just found it. It's for free, so it's worth a try... ;)

CCleaner is a good little program, and also portable (usable without installing), iirc.

Is FF installed? No, right? You're running it via your usb? If that's the case, the temp files SHOULD also be on your usb drive, going based on the idea you're also using the portable version of FF.

Honestly, I can't think of how they'd know you're online based on what YOU'RE doing, but then, like you, I'm waiting for caffeine to kick in. ::eyes tea cup balefully::

Everyone's here now, so I'm afraid to start running anything to clear history, but yes, FF is only on my usb.

I had always thought they could pull up everything I've done somehow (does that blackbox thing do that?).

Either way, you've made me feel a bit better. I'll cross my fingers and hope you're right/

See, I am pretty dumb about computers but I was going to say the same thing as aoibhe, the online stuff should only be on your USB and not their hard drive. I definitely have my fingers crossed for you. Stupid virus....stupid man trying to keep the proleteriat from having any fun at the salt mines. Good luck : )
