1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

[livejournal.com profile] mcgarrygirl78 gave me my five, and I got a little rambly.

"What is this plot crap?" This is my general writing wtf-ery icon. It's always made me laugh since I first saw it, and it's the perfect icon to use when I'm writing or talking about porn for porn's sake, or when I'm struggling with something I'm writing. I THINK it was originally meant to be a NaNoWriMo icon, but I find it's usefulness in most writing situations quite helpful, especially when I'm fretting and want to make light of it so I can let the stress go.

"La Dolce Gilda" Oh, I may get long winded here. When I was little, Gilda Radner was my idol. I rented The SNL Best of Gilda Radner so many times from the local video store that they eventually gave it to me--no one else could rent it cause I had it out all the time, and my parents had probably paid for it a hundred times over. OCD starts young, folks. La Dolce Gilda was a "sketch" on the tape that was supposed to be a "spoof" of Fellini films, but unlike all the other sketches, it was a sad one. It ends with Gilda leaving this decadent party where she's overwhelmed, and being followed by a mime. She tells him to leave her alone, to leave her her dreams. "Dreams are like paper," she says. "They tear so easily." She walks off, the mime reveals his heart on his shirt, then lets the balloon he's holding drift off into the sky, heartbroken. I didn't really get it when I was a kid, but it was so haunting that it stuck with me; I was sort of mesmerized by it even then.

I just tried to find a clip of it online and couldn't, but here are a couple little things about it, if you're interested: a little write up with transcript of final scene and another write up w/an explanation of what the idea was behind it

And Gilda was a comedian, you know, so for your enjoyment, something actually funny: my favorite song/sketch from her 1979 Broadway show

"Shades of Justice" There are so many "shades of justice" icons in this fandom, but I think Hotch wears the real ones, dude. As another of my icons says, he's the dark knight. The real deal. No one fucks with him. :)

"Strange Interlude" This is a quote from a Marx Brothers movie; I think it's from Monkey Business, which is probably my favorite Marx movie of them all. If I recall correctly, Groucho says this out of nowhere, then does a little sailor jig, and goes right back to the scene. Groucho isn't my favorite Marx (That would be Chico, and Harpo is a VERY close second), but this quote seemed like it would be very appropriate for random type posts. :P

Here's an unrelated Marx clip - Chico and Harpo playing the piano. Chico, in RL, was a compulsive gambler and probably a mathematical genius (actually, Chico and Harpo were a bit genius on the piano and harp respectively). He was also something of a slut ladies man, and while he's not someone you might think was sexy at first glance, I've always thought there was something hugely sexy in his demeanor sometimes, even in movies. It's a sort of confident/mischievous/cocky/playful thing that everyone who knew him in RL seemed to agree about. Watching some clips on youtube today, there's something almost Rossi-esque about it. LOL The sexy is never quite so obvious as when he plays the piano, though this is a comedic clip, so maybe you won't see it. :)

"Spaced piss off" I so love this show! This is a shot from the scrabble playing scene, where Daisy is trying to convince Tim that "pro-v" (like in the shampoo) is a word, while Tim tries to convince Daisy that "shazam" is acceptable. It's one of my favorite scenes in the whole series, and in fact, I even have the "shazam" icon too! :)
