I'm not getting why all the reaction posts I'm reading are so unimpressed. Of course, I wonder how much my own medical trigger played into this. I worried right from the start when they started coughing and running around the hospital coughing blood if it was going to make me pass out. It didn't, but when Reid shut himself in the house and they came back after that commercial break, I was squirming and felt like I couldn't breath (vicarious anthrax infection, y'all). I was HOOKED the whole fucking thing, guys. And this is coming from someone who was unsure about The Instincts/Memoriam because of all the unnecessary Reid torture.

You know what I think is the difference? Reid's mom inadvertently becomes an accessory to murder? Not job related. It was just extra Reid trauma that had nothing to do with what the show is about. This, though? It happened during the course of the job. I can understand and accept that a lot better, just like I accepted Hankel, etc. Does that make sense? Also, I do very much think Reid was the logical choice to be the one inside, given his knowledge of all that science-y/chemical/biological/etc stuff.

The ending was a little weird, though, I think. Okay, so Reid is going to be okay, but no one is going to visit him? He nearly died! And everyone is just acting like ' well thank God MY life is peachy!' Yeah, he's gonna get better, but go sit with him, dudes. He had a little bit of a bad day. WTF? Maybe THEY are tired of the Reid trauma like everyone else. *snickers* (Also, LOVE the message to his mom. <3 And is it sad that they were hosing him down and I was going "ROOOOOOOOOOWR!" instead "omg poor w00bie"?)

Lots of Morgan/Reid and Rossi/Prentiss subtext. 'Don't Emily me.' Bicker like an old married couple much?

Though, if you watched Hotch's face as he walked up to the house his lover is trapped inside, you will clearly see that he is quite distressed. He's just compartmentalizing it. Yep.

HOTHOTHOT! Crazy hot. *sigh* They're always going to be my OTP. I heart them.

I only wish Hotch had seen him soaked like that. And gotten the "I'm about to get naked" line.

*grin* Although I choose to believe the reason Morgan left is because he knew if Hotch caught him looking he'd be reassigned to a field post in Juno. *smirk*

LOL That is a very good point. Morgan often pisses Hotch off on the best of days. He doesn't want Hotch to start thinking he's got designs on his man. *nods*

The end of the episode slightly upset me as well, except for the raging Reid/Morgan that was going on there; I was like, "SOMEONE PLZ MENTION/CARE ABOUT REID, KK?" But yeah, the Reid!torture in this one wasn't gratuitous, and there was a decent amount of focus on the other characters as well. The entire episode was gripping and generally MADE OF WIN.

And um, EVERY PART RELATED TO REID MADE ME SCREAM LIKE A SCREAMING THING DOES!

I KNOW! I get that they were trying to make the viewers all on edge about him till the last second, but it was SO bizarre that no one on the team ever MENTIONS Reid. WTH? But yes! I thought the Reid torture here fit into the story on whole without being disruptively "ZOMG REIDREIDREID!" you know?

And than God someone else thought this ep rocked, because I was beginning to think I was the only one for crying out loud!

While I'm tired of the Reid-torture, I agree that this episode was way better than the Memoriam Reid-torture. *nods* I liked the way it was handled and what they did with it, and how Reid kept working despite his distress.

I went ROOOOOOOOOOOOWR! too, so you're not alone. Then again, I don't think you really believed you were. ;)

You mean I'm not the only one who drools over his sexy, wiry body, delicate hands, oddly-shaped nose, and to-die-for lips? Huh. >.>

I had no clue. You would think the Reid fangirls would be more vocal about it or something...

*cough*

Heehee!

YES! The Rossi scolding was SUCH a moment for me.

And I liked the whump here more than the past episodes as well. Though I did have to giggle like a schoolgirl (who is usually NOT boyslashy at all) when Reid asked Morgan if seeing him naked was really something he wanted to stick around for.

And my thought was that Prentiss and Rossi were possibly heading down in the elevator to grab a car and head to the hospital to visit with Reid and give Morgan a bit of a break from his intense magazine reading and jello-hogging.

And although the story was all in all about a horrible attack the firs thing I thought when Rossi stepped into the room in the beginning was "oh, he looks really good today".
And when Reid said to Morgan that he's gonna be naked and that Morgan don't want to see that I heard Morgan's answer in my head "Nothing I haven't seen before"...

Yapp bad case of fangirl here...

I hope that Hotch was planning on making his way to the hospital as soon as he finished talking to Jack. In my own personal fanon, he knows that Morgan (and quite possibly Garcia) are at the hospital taking care of Reid, so he can talk to Jack for a bit.

I hope that Prentiss and Rossi were on their way to the hospital.

But yeah, I was also a little annoyed that the only people the audience sees visiting Reid are Morgan and The Asian Doctor (don't remember her name, but I liked her character).

I did like the episode though.

I really loved the episode.....until the ending! It just pissed me off when NO ONE mentioned Reid! Its not like he didn't crack the case or anything......or almost died. *bangs head*
But that is the beauty of rewatching it. I can only watch the good parts...of which there were many! Wet!Reid! Brilliant!Reid Emotional!Reid! and "Compartmentalizing!"Hotch! Oh yeah....

HAHAHAHAHA @ ICON! :DDD

*ahem* I have really nothing to add to what you've said, but I wanted to say THANK YOU for the help with the Hotch/Rossi fic! I hadn't realized that the "Nurse Kate" that Steph was getting medical know-how from was someone on LJ until something she said yesterday, and I was like "WELL WHO THE HELL IS IT AND WHY HAVEN'T YOU MENTIONED THIS?!" ~_^ LOL Anyway, thanks so much! :DDDDD

You are welcome. I've actually enjoyed it, being the medical geek that I am. Really looking forward to the finished product.
I promise all our correspondence has been strictly professional. ;)

I don't get why everyone keeps moaning that there is too much "Reid torture". Obviously if the poor lad got kidnapped every week it would be different, but I don't think he suffers more in proportion to anybody else. And he is different - he is the character that centres the show - all the others are pretty much defined in their relationships to Reid. Plus he's the youngest and ostensibly most vulnerable (although he is very tough inside) and MGG is a very compelling actor. It works for the show to use him like that.

AS for the lack of visitors - I was wondering if he was in a ward where he wouldn;t be allowed too many people (risk of infection) so they would limit it. Also, I don't think Reid would want to be surrounded by people while he was lying in a hospital bed and feeling very vulnerable. (of course, Hotch had already been *g*). Maybe they came one at a time?

Or, they just don't care??? *g*

Yes, I agree on being surprised to see all the general unimpressed-ness. Although I was hugely torn between how much I adored the episode as a whole (damn straight on being "hooked"), and how cross I was about so much being jam-packed into a single episode without any seeming thoughts about plot arc or sub-plot resolution. And the more I think about that, the more pissed off I feel. But ohhhh, I so loved so many dozens of little moments and lines and characterisations in the ep. AH SO CONFLICTED. Haha.
