Hotch/Reid recs, anyone?

I suppose I'll ask this on a comm later if no one on my flist comes up with anything, but I hate asking this sort of thing on a comm. I feel oddly dorky about it, and I know I have H/R shippers on the flist...

SO, I read some absolutely GORGEOUS porn today (albydarned's Me, Myself, and I and The Things You Learn About a Guy--and YES I KNOW I am totally the last one to the party in reading them, but if anyone else is as slow as me, I highly recommend them. :P) in an effort to alleviate my holiday malaise... and it worked....

Except that I am actually SO JONESING for some good Hotch/Reid right now... and lately, there doesn't seem to be much coming out... so those of you who've been in the fandom longer than I have, do you have any good recs? What are your favorite H/R fics? I'm CRAVING. Which is odd, I think, because I tend not to crave specific ships in this fandom, but I'm just going to go with it. Halp!

I would read the ones by Iscaris, but Gideon/anyone freaks me out (especially Gid/Reid), and it looks like the sequel doesn't make sense unless the other is read first.

I've been waiting for Spiders to be finished, actually! I'm always afraid to read WIPs, but it's good to know it's good! :)

The iscaris one isn't Gideon/Reid, yeah, they talk a lot, but it's more mentor/mentoree than slash.

Trust me, I do not like Gideon/Reid slash--initially, around about "Derailed" I figured that any of the guys could hook up. But as the show progressed, I got my OTP and I came to see Gideon and Reid as having too much of a father/son type relationship to slash them. Although I do think there is Hotch/Gideon in the past...but then slashing Gideon doesn't really bother me. *G*

I just prefer to think Gideon has no boy bits whatsoever and should never touch anyone. Ever. So, you know, I might have just a slight issue of my own. *cough* Just a little one. ;)

*goes back and looks* Oh, it does say G/R. Hmm. I guess it could be read as slashy, but I think you can look at it as more of close relationship...and the second part is definitely H/R. *g*

*lol* I can understand that. And I while I can see Gideon/Hotch, I don't really count it as one of my ships because I mostly see it as a past thing, not something that would have been happening during the series/in the present. It's also not something that I'd write now, especially with Gideon gone (no great loss, that). Although I am guilty of having written a G/H/R PWP, very early on. *clears throat* What can I say, it was early days of the show...and after the ep Derailed and that scene with the guys before Reid goes on the train--I could see slashing any of them together. As the show went on, I fell into my OTP, and came to see Reid and Gideon's relationship as too father/son to slash them. It gives me the creeps just thinking about it!

LOL! I was actually going to say that exact thing in the comment before, but I just forgot to say it. It's sort of funny, I had the same reaction arc for Gideon that I did Rossi, but in extremes. I went from mild dislike of Gideon, to going "meh, he's all right." With Rossi I went from "omfg I fucking HATE that asshole" to "asjkghjsak ROSSI IS TEH BEST THING EVAR!" *G* Actually, when Innerslytherin came to visit me recently, we popped in some CM a couple of times, and whenever we tried to decide which episode to watch, we always wound up going, "Well, there are episodes I love in the first two seasons... but I want to watch a ROSSI EPISODE!" *G*

Well, I don't know that you could call me a H/R 'shipper, if anything I'm probably more of a M/R 'shipper than anything, but I do read almost anything...

If you're fairly open, you might give 'Irresistible' a try. I warn you it isn't 'just' Reid/Hotch although it does end up that way and that's the way it ends, and it has a bit of a magical AU twist to it. http://nebula99.livejournal.com/45264.html

Also, if you don't mind stories dealing with Hotch helping him out of a former Domestic Abuse relationship (I have my own issues with those but can read them on a case by case basis)

Hmm, not sure about domestic abuse, and the 'everyone/anyone fucks everyone' and magical fic in this fandom typically doesn't agree with me.

Yeah, see, I wasn't so sure about those either. When I read them I think I was at that 'new-to-this-fandom-read-anything' stage. Although I will say for the magical one, once I got over the slut!Reid thing and weirdness of the Sidhe thing it was kind of interesting. :-)

Hotch/Reid are the first pairing I started reading. They're what got me hooked on slashfiction in the first place. And now there's no stopping me. Now I'll ship Hotch/Reid/Morgan/Rossi in any combination whatsoever!

H/R was actually the first ship I saw slashy potential with, but then Innerslytherin wrangled me into M/R first. ;) H/R SO could have been my OTP, I think, but, needless to say, I ship everyone now!

Oh, man. I got excited because I've heard good things about dragonladyk's Hotch/Prenitss fics (or fic, I don't really know if she's written more than one)... but I took one look at those warnings, and I just don't think there's any way. Booo. :( Maybe--maybe--I'll get brave one day, but the gore and nightmare rape are forcing me to keep my distance for now.

In the fic, as one of the central plot points she mentions this RL book...I actually went looking for it on audio so I could listen on my drive down to to Texas.

At least it was good! I remember my first HP fic clear as day. It was so good. But my first fic in this fandom? I couldn't finish it. It wasn't badly written, but the weird freaked me out in the middle. LOL

I actually think the 'omg-ack!' aspect is what impressed me about Tilting at Windmills. I mean, it's Criminal Minds. When you think about it, this is a MESSED UP show.

This is the show that taught me never to have a one night stand -- lest my pick up be a serial killer. The same show that taught me to stick with best westerns and motel sixes, because the cheaper mom and pop shops would lock me in and eat me alive!

So, at that point, I think I half expected my fic to be just as freaky as canon -- while still being able to include a romantic subplot. That's how I could tell it was going to be a good story, you know?

*grin* It made sense in my head.
