Okay, so I've decided to start doing something here on a daily basis. Well, so long as I continue to remember to. I have really enjoyed sharing some of my favorite music/stuff that's stuck in my head here, so I thought I'd keep doing it. So I was kind of inspired by [livejournal.com profile] aoibhe's idea of daily!Hotch pics at her journal to start doing a song of the day. Basically what I'm going to do is put my iPod/iTunes on shuffle, and post the first song I can find on Youtube here, no matter how embarrassing. Okay, no matter how embarrassing to a point. :P

So today is the first Song of the Day ever! And interestingly enough, we start with Nirvana! I say interesting because I was just discussing this band with [livejournal.com profile] mcgarrygirl78 the other day, debating whether Nirvana would be so well remembered if Kurt Cobain hadn't offed himself. Now there are certainly much better Nirvana songs out there, but this is what the iTunes Gods said I should post today, so here goes:

Song(s) iTunes picked first but I couldn't find on Youtube: Urge Overkill - Bionic Revolution

I realized after that conversation and then hearing In Bloom on the radio, that there are some Nirvana songs that are integral to my surviving that hellhole known as high school, though still more Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. And I dont have any Nirvana on Ophelia but I need to change that because there are at least 4 songs that still move me.

Oh and this music of the day thing is brilliant : )

For me, Nirvana and Marilyn Manson were probably the MOST integral bands for me to surviving my teens. I still like Marilyn Manson, but they don't hit that emotional spot like they did then (I guess I'm a lot less angry now). Nirvana still does. And while I can't disagree that Cobain's untimely death has affected their long-term popularity, I still consider them one of the best 90's bands EVAR. lol

I'm excited to keep doing it! :D

Yeah, I feel the same way about Marilyn Manson, except that was college. I must be less angry too but at the time I was like "hell yeah, this guy is speaking my language.

I use iTunes--now, when I pulled the file into iTunes, it made it an AAC file, so I don't know if that makes a difference or not. All I had to do was right click on the song and select "create mp3 version" and voila! (I'm currently on iTunes 8.2, I need to update it).
