I thought this might be something personal, cuz she is usually very calm and in control of herself. But this one got to her. We were sitting here like "dont move man, she will blow your face off."
She wasn't behaving like it was personal. We've seen what that's like for her. If it was personal, I would have liked some build up for it. Really, to me it was completely OOC.
The thing is, without background info, there's no way we can make sense of it. And like I said above, if she was taking it personally, we should have seen some indication of that before the end.
You know, Emily has a lot in common with the victims, though. And we saw her identifying with them early on. "I would," she said, and went through what she would do in their position. And we know Emily has money, and she's used to nice living, even if she's not high-maintenance. She is at least able to move in the same circles those victims did. She was the one who recognized the etiquette. So maybe...
Still, she DOES usually compartmentalize WAAAAY better than that.
Dude, she's said things like "I would" before, and their JOB is to put themselves in the victims/unsubs mindsets to figure out the crime. There was no indication she was taking it personally!
I'm not saying there was. I was surprised by the way she shoved her gun in the guy's face too. But going backwards, I can see where it might have come from. And ruzila pointed out to me earlier today that they were also still dealing with Haley's death, and while probably none of the team (maybe except Dave) was close to Haley, they still are feeling Hotch's pain, and feeling helpless, and when it comes down to it, Haley was a strong woman who was killed, and these are also strong women who were killed.
I was confused too. I mean, usually when it's personal we get a little warning, but this was all, "tonight the role of Emily Prentiss will be played by Elle Greenaway (post-gunshot)"
After what the team had been through over the last few days, they are all on a rollercoaster ride with their feelings....only the day before they had been at Haley's funeral, had to leave the wake early and then straight into an emotional case so I can understand how all her frustrations blew up at that point when she was face to face with the unsub.
Morgan must have had similar feelings because he barely flinched at Prentiss' reaction and looked like he would have been the same but Prentiss beat him to it.
As the team have become even closer, I think we'll see more of Emily's emotions coming to the surface and leaking out because she doesn't have to hide from the team like she used too, she's come to realise more and more that it's ok to feel emotion when in the team's company. I think they are opening her up more to the team and us, bringing in snippet's of her past. I want to see more gladly.
