Stuff... and a meme
Feb. 9th, 2010 09:24 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Well, I got up early today and read the first page of my flist (just the personal journals). I think I'm going to start doing that in the mornings now, since I'm getting up so much earlier than I used to. I've become really bad about reading it lately, so I'm sorry if I've been absent. I was talking to
mcgarrygirl78 this morning about what a struggle it is to get through reading something lately. But this morning I read my flist instead of vegging and watching TV (on the computer), and I feel like I had a more productive start to my morning. So I think it's a habit I need to get into.
Anyway, my "old food adventure" is going quite well so far. It's 4 to my stomach (potatoes, hominy, beans and Ramen), and 0 to the old food (not including the stuff I tossed for smelling bad). It seems, so far, that the veggies have been okay, and the pastas are not. It's like the pastas seem to be leaching metal from the can. If I open one more can of pasta that smells so strongly of metal that it makes me sick, I'm tossing it all.
So speaking of
mcgarrygirl78, I have a meme she posted, and she gave me the five words below the cut.
1. REPLY TO THIS MEME BY YELLING "MY NAME IS THE MASTER", AND I WILL GIVE YOU FIVE WORDS THAT REMIND ME OF YOU. (ETA: You don't really have to say that for me. Just tell me you want to do it.)
2. THEN POST THEM IN YOUR JOURNAL AND EXPLAIN WHAT THEY MEAN TO YOU.
3. KEEP IN MIND THAT IF I DON'T KNOW YOU THAT WELL, YOUR WORDS MIGHT END UP KIND OF ODD OR WEIRD. IF I DO KNOW YOU, YOUR WORDS WILL MAYBE PROBABLY BE WEIRD.
1. The Mighty Boosh:
The Mighty Boosh is simply love. I had heard of it before and a few friends whose opinions I trusted seemed to like it. The husband brought up watching it, and we started to watch. I'm super glad we never watched it on Adult Swim, as I heard they butchered it badly to fit in commercials. Anyway, the two lead actors have this amazing chemistry with each other, and it's full of homosexyness. There is definitely a strong slash vibe that would be impossible to miss, even if you weren't into fanfic. I lubs them.
2. Knoxville:
I moved here about 12 years ago. I hated it at first. I moved from California the day after my high school graduation, and it was a horrible culture shock. I couldn't wait to move back to CA, but that takes money which I don't have, so I'm still here. It's changed a lot in the last 12 years, though. It's grown, and the downtown has been revitalized. We have more transplants from other areas of the country here too, so that means more cultural and ethnic diversity than there was before. So it's changed for the better, for sure. And I got married to the sweetest man I've ever met, so unless something major happens, I think I'm stuck here now. And that's not such a horrible thought as it once was.
3. Medication:
Oh jeeze, medication. There is so much to say. Hmm, I'll try to be brief. I started going to therapy almost two years ago. I was hoping I'd just be put on antidepressants, but I had been given some before and was afraid to take them. I think I knew deep down there was something more at play. Anyway, I was diagnosed with bipolar and started on my regiment of medications not long after. It's a good thing I didn't take the antidepressants on their own, really, as bipolar people can go truly manic if their mood is elevated too much without the proper stabilizing meds. I am currently on three different meds for my head (Lamictal, Prozac and Geodon), as well as one for blood pressure. I hate every minute of it, really, and I'd love to go off them all right now. But that could be very bad for me. I need to talk to my doc first.
4. Writing:
I love it. I started writing poetry when I was in high school to help me through my anger and depression (so emo, right?). I moved on to screenplays and stand up comedy in my late teens/early twenties. I have one complete screenplay, and it's not very good. I know a lot more about telling a compelling story now, so I'd like to think that if inspiration struck, I could write another one that IS good. I loved my stand up, too, but I was too chicken to perform it. I'd kinda like to do it now, since I'm much more confident than I was before.
I didn't start writing straight fiction until I got into fandom a few years ago. It sparked my creativity again after a dry spell. I think the above listed meds have really hindered my ability to write solo fic (original or fanfic) over the last couple years, though, which is really sad. It happens to bipolar people when they go on meds sometimes, and it happened to me. Writing fic on my own is a chore now sometimes, but at least I have
innerslytherin to write with me on a regular basis. We've written more fanfic then I can keep up with, and are working on revising an original novel together. :)
5. Spencer Reid:
I'm not sure why, but he's the hardest of the five things to write about. Let's see. He used to be my favorite character in the Criminal Minds fandom, but I've moved on to David Rossi. Spencer is a fascinating character, though, and I adore his mother. I have a kink for writing the mothers of complicated men (In the Harry Potter fandom, I used to write fic about Severus Snape's mother, who one has about two lines about her in the whole series!). I write Diana Reid in my RPG (
bau_rpg), and it's so much fun! Ummm, Spencer... has very petable hair. It's made of spun gold and alpaca fiber. Yes. This.

I have a kink for writing the mothers and children of complicated characters as well, whether they exist in canon or I have to make them up on my own.
Fandom sparked my creativity after a dryspell as well.....I had writer's block for two years before I wrote my first fic 5 years ago. Over a thousand later, I still hit walls but I've been writing consistently. Now if I could just churn out something original.
Reading my f-list starts my morning pretty well, I have to say : D

I love reading my flist in the mornings. It helps me wake up, it gives me motivation to get out of bed when my alarm goes off (and not just hit snooze a million times). Plus, the way my classes/sorority schedule is like on Monday - Wednesday, I don't have a ton of time for the flist after the morning, anyway. The problem is that sometimes I spend so long that I start running late for class and have to skip breakfast...blah.
I still need to check out the Mighty Boosh. I saw Noel Fielding on a couple episodes of Nevermind the Buzzcocks and I love him now.
Writing screenplays is hard =/

The pasta might be leaching metal from the can because of the acidity of the sauce..just a thought. Glad you haven't gotten sick from any of them, too.
May I play, (again) please? I am the master!

Date: 2010-02-10 01:32 am (UTC)Yeah, I thought maybe it was the acidity, but one of them was a white sauce.
Okay, I said I haven't been good about reading my flist, so outside of being utterly nice here at my journal, I don't know much about you. That will be rectified with my new flist reading in the morning plan, though! Promise. But because I am where I am right now, I looked at your user info. Well, except for the first two.
