I have iTunes gift cards and I can't decide what to buy. Any music recs? As long as they're not country, rap, really bad "adult contemporary", or teen pop stars/boy bands/etc, I'll give them a listen!
Nuttin But Stringz is hip hop violins. It's cooler than it sounds, I swear!
In fact...there's a youtube video ripped off of a segment they did on the Noggin channel (warning: there's a copious amount of cute going on).
I listen to strings when I'm writing Reid. So, Yo-Yo Ma or even Paul Dateh are really good. He's got a self-titled album out on iTunes, that I haven't gotten a chance to buy yet (destitution does not suit me, for serious); but if it's anything like his youtube stuff, it's definitely on my list.
I was heavily considering including the Eagles on that list. I probably should have. I left them off cause I figured I'd get this sort of reaction, but I'm getting it anyway. LOL
Oooh, I like those! I'm actually a big fan of classic instruments in modern music. Primarily rock music, but hip hop strings it a pretty cool idea, and I like that song. I wish there was more on youtube.
I selectively like country, and I did just tell you I sold a bunch of my country CDs. :P
As for the Eagles...I count as classic rock anything that gets played on my two favorite radio stations, one of which is all classic rock and one of which is "classic rock and the best of today's new rock". Granted, the Eagles do cross some genre lines, but still.

The Eagles were pop for the time. They are not now, nor will they ever be, ROCK.
Don't get me wrong, I like them, but no. *laughs*

I LOVE the Eagles! I just think they're too mellow to really count as classic rock.
