I was staying with a friend earlier in the year (while the worst of the rekitchenation was happening), and she's very 'green', so she was using kitchen paper soaked in white vinegar in a plastic bag round her bathroom taps, to descale them.
I had to hold my breath every time I went to the loo for several days...
This fellow, Sandor Kraut, a gay Jewish healthfood guru, is a proselytizer for brined pickles, and he explains why here--with a recipe. I have not had the guts to try any of his recipes, though I bought the book and I am still a little in love with him after my first passionate crush that I developed on the first reading.
I got these new Starbursts, fave reds, with fruit punch, strawberry, cherry, and watermelon. I dont like watermelon though so I will not eat them. My Skittles are the original red pack.
If I were going on a binge, I wouldn't eat all that sticky stuff. Nope. I'm not going on one at the moment because I'm feeling pretty OK, considering that I didn't get any sleep last night to speak of. But if I wanted sugar, and sometimes I do, though I'm mainly a salty/savory binger, I would pick melty unctuous chocolate, preferably with dried fruit in it. Just saying.
Half-sours? I don't think I've heard of those before.
I never ever craved sweet before; I'd go with ice ceam, but it usually sat in my freezer so long it got freezer burned. I used to be more of a savory person (not so much salt). But in the last five months or so, I cannot eat enough sugar. It's sort of insane, and I have a feeling I know why, but still...
My first thought was 'Seriously? His last name is Kraut? Like the stuff you put on bratwurst?" (Which, admittedly, sounded delicious). But I just read his bio thingy, and I get it now. *g* That's really cool! I've considered making pickles before, actually, but I'm not brave enough to try. Though, I don't think I've ever tried a brined one.
