For any of you Criminal Minds people who care about personal choice, please go vote NO on this poll.

My reasoning here, but there are many other good points made as well.

I can't BELIEVE how many people are voting yes. I actually really pisses me off. They are talking about not only deleting posts, but BANNING people as well, over something that should be completely up to the poster's discretion.

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] sodoesracheal puts it more succinctly than I do: "Moderator of a community and ruler of a community are two different things. Some people have legitimate reasons for disabling comments. Taking the choice away is wrong."

And you know, I think this is what gets down to what bothers me the most about this. I can't even remember the last time I posted fic to that comm, and to the best of my knowledge I have never disabled comments there either. I haven't seen the point yet. Yet even as someone the rule would have never affected as of yet, allowing comments or not on a post that is not offensive is a personal choice (just as deciding whether or not to click a link to a discussion held elsewhere is), and taking away our choice is wrong and abuse of power by the mods.

ETA2: Fuck it. This is all just going to get wanky if I keep replying. I am angered by a couple comments made, but I have no interest in wank.

Vote NO. IJS.

So recently I've been thinking about Hotch's abusive past in relation to who he might tell about that (I'm sure the person that made me think about this knows who she is, and please know that I'm not attempting to invalidate your perspective at all).

I like to believe that he's been able to open up to people he's close to (Haley, Rossi, Gideon, and maybe Reid). I should clarify that I'm speaking strictly in canon. I think people in trusting romantic relationships tell each other things like this, so I could see Hotch telling other people in any fandom ship, if the romantic relationship was done well.

I was wondering, however, if there was any canon evidence to support this either way. SO... I'm doing a rewatch of all four seasons of CM over the summer (not because of this question), and was just rewatching Natural Born Killer, the episode in which Hotch's past abuse is revealed. Gideon has been talking to Vincent, and the team is finally piecing together Vincent's abusive past. Gideon looks at Hotch and asks if Hotch wants to take the rest of the interview.

To me, there is absolutely no reason in my head that Gideon would want to give over the interview to Hotch, who's been beaten up by the unsub already (which only amuses Vincent), unless he thought Hotch had more insight here than he did. Simply put, this exchange to me says clearly that Gideon knows Hotch was abused. And before you say it, as far as I can tell, Gideon shouldn't have this information because of his position; neither Hotch or Gideon knew about the abuse in Morgan's past in Profiler, Profiled, after all.

Of course, it's not so specific that people can't read it anyway they want; they could just say Gideon wasn't getting anywhere with Vincent, so he thought a change might work, or that Gideon is just so good he figured that out about Hotch without being told (though I think that fact that Hotch doesn't seem surprised josses that theory). So what do you all think? I'm posting a poll, but more detailed replies in comments are always love.

According to the date I created this journal, this would have been my first entry: Numero Uno.

Hee! I had just posted my first drabble EVAR (over at [livejournal.com profile] snupin100), apparently, and I just reread it. It was actually sort of cute. I also think that was the first time I ever talked to [livejournal.com profile] cordeliadelayne in the drabble post, and after that I never forgot how utterly sweet she was.

I also talked about hoping it would spark something other than fanfic a little. I had been a fine artist before, and sculpture was a passion of mine, and then I dropped out of school (the first time) and lost that community that supported me. I had made me sad for a long time that I had lost that. Anyway, I was new to writing fic then and had started writing it after RPing Snupin for a while. Awww, I was a baby ficcer, how cute! I actually joined LJ because I wanted a place to post my fic and get feedback (I HAD been posting it to my now-deleted Myspace. Heh.) I never imagined the friends that I had then wouldn't be in my life anymore, or that I would find such great friends here. New friends won't replace them, but I have made some awesome ones along the way, people who help and support me when I need them, and who I adore. I never expected to find COMMUNITY here, and I'm not just talking literal communities. It's been an awesome thing, and all because I wanted to share my then-mediocre fic.

Ooh, and this guy I mentioned. Dude, I remember him! He was creeeeeeepy. he lived at the hotel I worked in, and I was alone on Sundays there. he used to come up and talk to me and say creepy things. He'd try to get me to come to his room, ask me which car I drove, and he propositioned the housekeepers. The cops came once because he was apparently stalking the girls at the Walgreens across the street, and they found nasty porn strewn everywhere in his room and some sort of sex harness hanging from the ceiling. The cops told us to stay clear of him. And yet the managers there cared nothing about our safety, only about getting paid, and never kicked him out. TRUE Unsub, dude. For serious. It's really amazing, looking back, that nothing happened, especially to those of us who worked alone with him in the building.

Oh yeah, and I was having jaw issues back then, too. I mentioned here before that I got fucked over by a dentist and my jaw hurt for a good year. Yeah, it must have still been hurting then, though I'm not sure how close or far that was from the actual fillings that caused it.

HEE. Apparently, I'm nuts. *G* (Also, I apparently don't like The Instincts or Memoriam or the entirety of season 4, in spite of having not said that.) First, let me say that if this happens to be someone on my flist (if they came from LJ, it has to be that, or someone who dropped by my journal randomly), I am not offended. When I said "That's the beauty of fandom . We can completely disagree with each other, and BOTH still be right in whatever we believe," I meant it entirely. In which Severity rambles on and on about the need to surround yourself with and embrace people who disagree with you, and navel gazes for a bit, wondering why her TTC reviews get the response they do... )

God, I'm rambling. Worse, I'm rambling self-indulgently about my own writing. *sigh* I would like opinions, if you have any, though, and while I would always prefer to have a "face to face" conversation with someone, anon comments are always turned on in this journal.

One last thing I want to say before I pimp my own fics, is that overall, I am very, VERY impressed with the fics that came out of this fest. To everyone who participated, if you're reading this, THANK YOU. It was wonderful.
